Kokuta Suda
1906 Born in Fukiage (current Konosu City), Kita-Adachi District, Saitama Prefecture
1936 Won a prize at the First Bunten Exhibition
1949 Started drawing abstract painting, after knowing an abstract artist Saburo Hasegawa
1990 Died at the age of 84
Suda drew both representational and abstract paintings with his particularly strong touch. His works became well-known after he started to be in charge of illustration cut for a famous travel writing “Kaidowo-Yuku (Walking Along Streets)” by Ryotaro Shiba.
